ArtSpace Giving
Dear Friend of New Community ArtSpace,
On September 11, 2009, many wonderful people gathered, in person and in spirit, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ArtSpace. To commemorate the occasion, Paul Ryan along with a few of his friends, prepared a delicious meal for all in attendance, the By and By Band provided incredible bluegrass music, and the students of ArtSpace presented a moving exhibition of their work. A day that started out as wet and rainy was transformed it into a wonderful celebration. The event was a witness to the power art can have on individuals and communities.
While the event strengthened our connection to each other and to the ArtSpace program, ArtSpace is still in desperate need of your ongoing financial support. Despite a largely volunteer staff and modest budget, ArtSpace needs to bridge a $20,000 shortfall in our yearly budget. Please consider making a significant financial contribution to ArtSpace this year to help ensure a lasting legacy in the Shaw neighborhood.
ArtSpace has great potential to deepen its presence in the daily lives of youth and adults in the Shaw. With a talented group of volunteer teachers, ArtSpace is able to provide affordable, high quality classes to the community. ArtSpace provides classes in drawing, Photoshop, ceramics, darkroom photography, and fiber arts. In addition to classes, the ArtSpace Gallery features monthly exhibitions by local community artists. Each month these exhibitions attract many people, and often many of you.
If you are up for one more party before the end of the year, please consider coming to the ArtSpace Holiday Bazaar on Friday, December 4, 2009. This event will mark the 40th exhibition since the ArtSpace Gallery Series kicked off in June 2007 and our 8th straight trimester of full class offerings.
ArtSpace’s survival depends on our being able to secure necessary funds through ongoing donations. Help us celebrate our 10 year anniversary by supporting us with a financial offering.
Sincerely,
Rachel Dickerson,
Founder and Advisory Board Member
Kristian Whipple,
ArtSpace Coordinator
